Our Story

FIRST WE PRAYED

In 2017 a group of people started to gather to pray for women in High Wycombe who were caught up in sex trafficking. These Christians were aware that there were women trapped in this situation in Wycombe, and they were operating right outside the front door of the church’s main facility. We met weekly to cry out to God to bring healing and restoration. We learned a little more about the women, who lead incredibly difficult and dangerous lives, and we prayed for their protection.

In 2018 the church decided to establish a practical ministry to help these women. We agreed to partner with Azalea Luton, an established charity which has been supporting women affected by sex trafficking in Luton since 2009. And we continued to pray.

In 2020 Azalea High Wycombe was launched with one part time staff member, tasked with setting up a practical outreach ministry and becoming an independent charity, under the guidance of Azalea Luton. In October our team of courageous volunteers began walking outreach, to meet with the women and try to get alongside them. We took cake. And continued to pray.

In April 2021 we began opening a hall (attached to the King’s Church’s main facility) as a drop-in space, where the women could come off the streets and into a welcoming space. We continued to pray.

In November 2022 we changed our name to Chosen after much prayer.

We have consistently served the women with our weekly outreach and we continue to do so. We also continue to pray about every aspect of our vital work.
